Kasenyi Safari Camp, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda
Kasenyi Safari Camp is a luxury safari camp located on the rim of Lake Bunyampaka in the Kasenyi savannah of Queen Elizabeth National Park at it is at the border of Queen Elizabeth National Park. It is about 10 km from the main Kasese – Mbarara Road and about 3km from Kasenyi fising village. From the junction of Mweya, branch off on your left on the dirt Kasenyi Road.
The camp has an elevated dining structure that is meticulously thatched and wall-built. This is the big structure that ushers you into the camp; it was a combination of 4 structures into one. It houses the restaurant, kitchen, and the bar and the manager’s office.
The tents are on platforms with a thatched canopy roof. There are four tents all with en-suite bathrooms, spacious living areas and private decks. One of the four is the biggest that is suitable for the family.
Game viewing in the Kasenyi Savannah: There are different trails that start from the camp where you are able to sight the elephants, buffaloes, lions, antelopes and different bird species.
Visits to the Bunyampaka salt lake: This is a nature walk down to the lake. Here you will find the locals and they will take you through the whole process of getting salt from the lake. This activity can take about 1.5 hours.
Alternatively, if the clients have bush breakfast, they can start the walk from that point down to the swamp area and walk back to the lodge. This gives an opportunity of viewing different animal and bird species.
Bush breakfast: The camp offers complementary (at the moment) bush breakfast [weather permitting] where a designated place is chosen and clients can have breakfast in the ‘bush’
Night game drives: These are done to give clients an opportunity of experiencing the night life in the wild. You will look out for the leopard, hippos grazing and other nocturnal along the drives.
Hot air Balloon safari: This is a new activity in QENP that is done in conjunction with Uganda Balloon Safari Company on a promotion basis. Clients gather at a designated venue in the park where the hot air balloon starts from.
Buying crafts: Clients can buy crafts at the nearby craft center that was set up to support the communities.
