With just seven tents and a maximum of 14 guests, Ruzizi is a quiet and intimate retreat. Tall palms and fruiting fig trees create a feeling of tranquility and attract a variety of birds and animals. The lodge was designed to blend in with the surrounding environment with trees and vegetation left undisturbed and even incorporated into the structure. Much of the furniture and decorations were hand-crafted by local artisans and cooperatives. The lodge is totally powered by solar energy.
Each tent has its own en-suite bathroom, a dressing area and either a comfortable queen bed or ¾ twin beds plus a small patio, which is accessible by wooden boardwalks leading from the main reception area. A thatched central reception area with a lounge-bar and dining area is at the heart of the lodge. A large deck with a fireplace sits under a shady fig tree overlooking Lake Ihema.
The lodge is managed by the same company managing the park, all profits from your stay at Ruzizi Tented Lodge go back into the conservation and protection of Akagera National Park.
